We, JR RUBBER INDUSTRIES are from South of India, acclaimed for the production of wet cast tiles and paving block production. REPORT COMPARISON SHOWS THE SUPIRIORITY OF RUBBER MOULDS OR RUBBER GADGETS THAN THE POLYVINYL CHLORIDE (PVC) IN FLOORING

RUBBER

Rubber exhibits unique physical and chemical properties. Rubber's stress-strain behavior exhibits the Mullins effect and the Payne effect, and is often modeled as hyperelastic. Rubber strain crystallizes.

Due to the presence of a double bond in each repeat unit, natural rubber is susceptible to vulcanisation and sensitive to ozone cracking.

The two main solvents for rubber are turpentine and naphtha (petroleum). The former has been in use since 1764 when François Fresnau made the discovery. Giovanni Fabbroni is credited with the discovery of naphtha as a rubber solvent in 1779. Because rubber does not dissolve easily, the material is finely divided by shredding prior to its immersion.

PVC

  • Mechanical properties

    PVC has high hardness and mechanical properties. The mechanical properties enhance with the molecular weight increasing but decrease with the temperature increasing. The mechanical properties of rigid PVC (uPVC) are very good; the elastic modulus can reach 1500-3,000 MPa. The soft PVC (flexible PVC) elastic is 1.5 - 15 MPa.

  • Thermal and fire properties

    The heat stability of raw PVC is very poor, so the addition of a heat stabilizer during the process is necessary in order to ensure the product's properties. PVC starts to decompose when the temperature reaches 140 °C, with melting temperature starting around 160 °C. The linear expansion coefficient of rigid PVC is small and has good flame retardancy, the Limiting oxygen index (LOI) being up to 45 or more. The LOI is the minimum concentration of oxygen, expressed as a percentage that will support combustion of a polymer and noting that air has 20% content of oxygen.

  • Electrical properties

    PVC is a polymer with good insulation properties, because of its higher polar nature the electrical insulating property is inferior to non polar polymers such as polyethylene and polypropylene. Since the dielectric constant, dielectric loss tangent value, and volume resistivity are high, the corona resistance is not very good, and it is generally suitable for medium or low voltage and low frequency insulation materials.

  • Chemical properties

    PVC is chemical resistant to acids, salts, bases,fats, alcohols therefore it is used in sewerage piping. It is also resistant to some solvents, mainly uPVC, plastified PVC is in some cases less resistant to solvents. For example, PVC is resistant to fuel, some paint thinners. Some solvents may only swell it or deform it but not dissolve PVC, but some of them may damage it like tetrahydrofuran or acetone.

  • Applications

    PVC is used extensively in sewage pipe due to its low cost, chemical resistance and ease of jointing.

    PVC's relatively low cost, biological and chemical resistance and workability have resulted in it being used for a wide variety of applications. It is used for sewerage pipes and other pipe applications where cost or vulnerability to corrosion limit the use of metal. With the addition of impact modifiers and stabilizers, PVC scrap has become a popular material for window and door which is 50% less than the cost of wooden window and door. By adding plasticizers, it can become flexible enough to be used in cabling applications as a wire insulator. It has been used in many other applications. In 2013, about 39.3 million tonnes of PVC were consumed worldwide. PVC demand is forecast to increase at an average annual rate of 3.2% until 2021

    As the PVC achieves the flexibility by adding plasticizers, the heat can make them damaged easily, may be by reuse.

  • DEFORMATION

    Attain stability in dimension of the mould in prolonged use. If the mould deforms while production, the tiles/paving blocks will also affect that deformation and we cannot able to pave or lay the end product (paving blocks/tiles) in a finished way as they shows the visible gap between them and afterwards, moulds will become a non-recyclable waste.

    The mould made of PVC or Plastic tends to deform within a short period of use sometimes within a year. But superior quality Rubber moulds, will not deform even after long running. The reason behind it is, that our moulds are made of high-quality rubber, similar to the rubber used to manufacture vehicle tire. You may notice that, technological growth is at par across the world, nevertheless, no PVC or another plastic material is still using for tire manufacturers.

  • PRODUCT DURABILITY Vs PRODUCT INNER FINISH

    The special finish and glossiness of rubber mould is getting transferred to the pavers while at production stage itself. PVC or other plastic moulds may have a good finish in the beginning, but after a while –say continues usage, the finish will start to decline. Mostly, within one – one and half years, the finish will be disappeared and the mould will become rough. This is due to the etching reaction of cement and chemicals. This will obviously affect the surface finish of the paving blocks/tiles. But our Rubber moulds are having a protective layer itself, which acts as a good coating for glossy hard finish and shininess even after prolonged use. We apply acid, alkali and other chemical resistant compositions in the inner layer of the mould to ensure that the end products are shiny and have very smooth finish.

  • NO STAINS ON END PRODUCTS

    Our Rubber moulds have an ultra smooth inside with a synthetic inner coating, which makes corrosion resistant and non-sticky. To protect the end product (tile/paver) from color staining while prolonged usage, rubber moulds includes a new non-toxic product and applied as an inner coating, which resist color stains or pigmentation even after prolonged use. This innovative idea ensures easy de-molding and cleaning of the mold and it gives an excellent base finish to the paving blocks and tiles.

  • PROLONGED SERVICE LIFE

    The service life of Rubber moulds is prolonged to more years than PVC. Moreover, the production process will be easy and smooth. .
